The multi-purpose Ka-62 will be equipped with a new engine and transmission of domestic production

As it became known, the multi-purpose promising helicopter Ka-62 received a new power plant and transmission made in Russia. The modernization was carried out at one of the largest aviation enterprises in Russia - the Progress plant. The Ministry of Industry and Trade of the Primorsky Territory spoke about this.


The remotorization of the aircraft has been carried out since 2023 due to difficulties arising as a result of sanctions measures taken against our country. The replacement of the main components was carried out with the condition of maintaining the flight performance of the model. Starting this year, new components will be produced at the Arsenyev enterprise’s own facilities. Work on design documentation will also continue.


It is expected that the updated helicopters will begin to enter service no earlier than the second half of next year. The Ka-62 is capable of reaching a maximum speed of 315 km/h, and can be used in search and rescue, humanitarian, passenger and other operations.
