Infiniti QX80 2024: new engine, different nameplate, fresh appearance

In 2022, 958 Infiniti cars were sold in Russia. Of these, 170 are “eighties”. Does this mean that the SUV audience is small? Not at all.


It’s just that not every “father” can afford the power, luxury, comfort and safety that the Japanese offer. These benefits cost a lot of money. And there are plenty of interested people who closely monitor the development of the model. For them, a review of the updated car.

Exterior

It's with some apprehension that you call the Infiniti QX80 a car. More like a monster. Mighty and indestructible. Finally, in the third generation. The connoisseurs and connoisseurs are tired of waiting. The manufacturer was late with updates: they say it is working in cost-cutting mode.


For this reason, the second generation of “eighties” stood on the assembly line for 14 years. The model is so good that it is not lost among its competitors. But it's time to change.

We started last year with the brand logo. The three-dimensional illuminated icon has become more expressive and speaking. The road running into the distance is clearly visible. There, at the horizon, it touches the sky.

Through the efforts of the team of the company's leading designer Alfonso Albaisa, the model retained its corporate identity. The monumental radiator grille has become different, A-shaped, and the glazing area has increased. Adaptive front optics have become, in fashion, two-level.


The profile was given more dynamism and swiftness. Not an easy task with changed proportions and increased sizes compared to the original:

✅ Wheels – 20, 21 and 22 inches

The frame structure was left unchanged. They didn’t create a new “trolley”, but they redesigned the old one. The wheelbase was also retained – 3073 mm. The drag coefficient, as it was, is Cx = 0,37, and the torsional rigidity of the body metal has increased by a quarter.

Interior

The cabin has 3 rows of seats for a crew of 7 or 8 people. Middle passengers were provided with a solid sofa or 2 separate armchairs. There is room for everyone: even in the gallery they left 1041 mm for legs.


Finish: leather, aluminum, wood. Owners of the top versions of Autograph will enjoy the finest semi-aniline leather with pigmentation. Heating is provided for all riders, but massage and ventilation are not available on the third-row bench. But the Biometric Cooling system recognizes the temperature of the rear passengers and automatically adjusts the climate control.

The front panel is equipped with two 14,3-inch displays. The third 9-inch touch screen is responsible for climate, power accessories and driving modes. Located on the center console. Google services are built into the entertainment system.

There is a 14-speaker Klipsch audio system on board. Optionally, you can take 24 speakers, including those in the headrests, and a 1200-watt subwoofer. The first two rows are equipped with cameras with the ability to remotely connect from a smartphone.


Other things (connectors, sockets, boxes, smart rear-view mirror) remained the same as in the previous generation. The Infiniti QX80 2024 is equipped with a whole arsenal of cameras. The front offers a panoramic view with 170° visibility and a “transparent hood” function. Autopilot with lane keeping comes standard. In expensive versions, there is an advanced ProPilot 1.2, which allows you to take your hands off the steering wheel.

Technical part

Disappointing for fans of 5,6-liter naturally aspirated V8s: the engine has been replaced. However, Infiniti's performance and performance were not affected.


Under the hood of the SUV, a Nissan VR35DDTT biturbo power unit was installed with the following characteristics:
