AvtoVAZ promised to present a competitor to Geely and Haval

Very ambitious plans were shared by the vice president for sales of AvtoVAZ represented by Dmitry Kostromin with correspondents "Samara Review". Among other things, he told what new products can be expected in the model range of the plant in the near future.


At the moment, three models are on sale - Niva Legend, Niva Travel and Grant. In the near future, the start of sales of the flagship Vesta is expected. The return of Largus is also planned.


During the interview, information was also confirmed about the resumption of the work of the former Nissan plant in St. Petersburg. No new partners of the Togliatti enterprise have been announced yet, while plans have been announced to produce cars of the C-SUV and D-SUV class. The D-class sedan is also listed among the new segments for AvtoVAZ. As for competition, according to Kostromin, one of the most popular manufacturers from China in our country, Geely and Haval, will be among the main rivals.

The first batch of electric e-Largus will be presented at the end of this year. The release of Vesta with automatic transmission and a new, separate B-segment family is planned for 2024. The announced bestseller, in the form of a crossover created on the basis of Vesta, should be released towards the end of 2025.

Also, according to Dmitry Kostromin, against the backdrop of production growth, the likelihood of expanding the dealer network increases, while they promise strict control over compliance with standards and plans. Also, the enterprise development program includes the opening of more than 100 Lecar Service multi-brand service stations. This is a fairly significant increase, given that there are only three such centers at the moment.


But the AvtoVAZ representative answered the question about the prospects of a mass transition to an all-electric mode of transport unambiguously. According to him, this option is not very realistic due to many objective reasons. And so he sees the future behind hybrids using gas-electric installations. The development of this area is associated with the organization of infrastructure facilities, including an increase in the number of methane filling stations.
