MAN and Scania leave Russia and sell assets

MAN and Scania leave Russia and sell assets
MAN and Scania leave the Russian market. This procedure is very painful for companies - they not only worked in the Russian Federation for a long time, but also assembled trucks at a production site in St. Petersburg. Russian assets have already been put up for sale.

The Traton group of companies, which includes MAN and Scania, has already decided which Russian entrepreneurs they will sell their firms to. Information about partners until the transaction is not disclosed.

TRATON AG, which is a subsidiary of the Volkswagen concern, has estimated its approximate losses associated with leaving Russia at 550 million euros. But merchants are forced to take this step - due to economic sanctions against the Russian Federation, they cannot work. Idle times bear losses, and improvement of a situation in a political arena is not expected.

What will happen to the MAN / Scania plant in St. Petersburg is not yet clear. It is possible that the new owners will organize assembly production of cars of other brands there. But this will be known only after the conclusion of a deal to sell the Russian assets of TRATON AG.

Recall that the brands Scania and MAN completely stopped the supply of trucks and components for them in March 2021. Until now, manufacturers have been waiting for the situation to stabilize, but now it is clear that the governments of the EU countries do not plan to lift economic sanctions in the near future.
