Mercedes introduced the updated GLC Coupe

The German automaker has revealed the appearance and some of the technical characteristics of the updated GLC Coupe model. The matter was not limited to one design change, the off-road crossover has become more maneuverable and is now offered only with different options for hybrid power plants.


Buyers from Western Europe will be able to evaluate the novelty this summer. The price is still under wraps.

Changes in the technical part

The most important innovation is the addition of a steering rear axle. With it, the turning radius is reduced by almost a meter. The body became more streamlined, the drag coefficient fell to 0,27. Despite the "luxury" appearance, it's still a crossover. There is an off-road driving mode and an electronic descent assistant. For a fee, the list of off-road functions can be expanded.

The engine range pleases with variety. While there are four "mild" hybrids, they are equipped with two-liter petrol and diesel turbo engines. Power spread - from 197 to 269 liters. s., torque ranges from 320 to 550 N * m. Oddly enough, the best dynamics is provided by a motor with average performance, it accelerates the car to 100 km / h in 6,3 seconds.

Later, rechargeable hybrids will also appear, three modifications are announced. They will be equipped with the same engines, but supplemented by a 136 hp electric motor. with., with it acceleration to 100 km / h will be reduced by 0,8 seconds. Without the use of internal combustion engines, cars will be able to travel from 113 to 131 km.


The gearbox for the entire family is the same, it is a nine-speed "automatic". Only all-wheel drive is available. Compared to the previous generation, the new GLC Coupe has changed by a few millimeters: added 32 in length, 5 in height and 15 in the wheelbase. The width has remained the same.

External differences

If you look "in the face", the car has changed the shape of the headlights and the pattern of the radiator grille. The chrome Avantgarde Line decor has become a must-have. The choice of wheels is offered: from 18 to 20 inches.


Inside, you can see a 60 mm enlarged panoramic sunroof. There were also interesting options for a surcharge. For example, Digital Light headlights instead of conventional LED ones. They can project arrows and special symbols onto the road, making driving easier. There's an Energizing Plus package that includes multicontour seats, a sophisticated air purification system, air freshener and other nice comfort devices.
