The first thing that attracts attention is the design. And if the car is blue, then, strange as it may sound, it turns out to be a successful combination of exterior and color. Externally, the car has clearly been updated and is seriously different: both from the “younger” Emgrand, Cjllray, and the “big brothers” - Monjaro, Tugella. If we talk about the design in general, the new model is still closer to European cars, but the design has become a little less calm.


The company does not yet have its own exterior style, and therefore it is not surprising that the cars of the family can differ relatively greatly from each other in appearance. Automaker in search!

Interesting: the previous Atlas model with the Pro prefix is ​​still sold in car dealerships: it has all-wheel drive and the initial cost is lower. But we move on to “Atlas II” and consider it not only in terms of beauty, but also from the point of view of practicality.

Body


The updated model, when compared with the previous generation, has changed in size. The length increased by 12,6 cm, width - 6,98 cm, the wheelbase increased by 10,7 cm. But the height of the car became lower by 0,8 cm. Another change pleasant for Russians is an increase in ground clearance. For the all-wheel drive Pro it is 171 mm, Atlas II – 215 mm. In terms of dimensions, the new product is comparable to the Skoda Kodiak and Tiggo 8. According to the manufacturer, except for the roof and the inside of the hood, the body is completely galvanized (93,7%). Hidden cavities were treated with wax.

The front bumper reinforcement is made of reinforced aircraft aluminum. The wheel arches are covered with special plastic covers of different widths. The overhang on the front end has become smaller, making it easier to overcome climbs. However, this part is made of glossy plastic, which on bad roads will predictably be “bombarded” by small stones. You will have to be more careful or roll up the bumper in a transparent anti-gravel film. The initial and second trim levels have 19-inch wheels, the most expensive ones have 20-inch wheels.

As expected, it opens from the key fob (in the highest and pre-top versions). Average volume – 650 l. One of the features is a transformable floor panel: it can be lowered down a little, then a small side appears.

Inside the compartment there is a niche for, for example, a washer and a lone hook. Under the floor there was a place for “docking” and tools. The rear row of seats folds down, which increases the total trunk volume.

Second row


The car has only front-wheel drive so far, so the floor is flat. Everything here at the back is standard: the door cards are exactly the same as on the first row (some manufacturers try to save on this).

There is also an armrest, heating is carried out through separate deflectors. But, alas, it can be controlled only through the multimedia display. But there are USB-A and C ports available.

Driver's seat


The first thing that attracts attention in the front row is the large (13,2-inch) multimedia screen located in the center of the console. It can be positioned in a horizontal or vertical plane. All the main controls are located in it: there are fewer and fewer physical switches and keys. Actually, these include buttons on the steering wheel, emergency lights, and the gearbox selector. Therefore, you have to dive into the “depths” of the menu. By the way: the main screen is empty - it could have been filled with icons of some of the most frequently used applications.

Yes, the most important thing about multimedia: it uses the relatively new AutoDo system. You can also connect popular applications such as Android Auto, CarPlay, etc. But they do not work very well. It is possible that in the future the company will improve and correct this small drawback. There are other points that cause some confusion. For example, to adjust the exterior mirrors, you must first press the steering button on the left, then find the desired item in the multimedia menu and make the adjustment at the final stage on the right spoke. However, if the same person drives constantly, this is not such a problem.

Separately, it is worth mentioning the interior lighting. She is beautiful, stylish - there are no words. But when traveling in the dark, all this begins to be reflected not only on the side windows, but also on the windshield. And this is no longer safe. One of the interesting and unusual points is a sun visor made of tinted glass. Everyone says that this is “cool” and unusual - this “miracle” is available starting with the average Flagship configuration. However, someone may still remember: such products were a mandatory attribute of almost every Soviet intercity bus.

Another surprise is that windows, like mirrors, are controlled through the multimedia menu. Whether it is convenient or not is a question, however... The instrument panel is bright and easy to read, although some numbers and letters are a bit small. But the more expensive configuration includes a projection onto the windshield. What else? At the bottom we see a couple of connectors for gadgets, a cigarette lighter, two cup holders, and a box inside the armrest.

Under the display there are a couple of niches for a smartphone, one serves as a wireless charger. This is very necessary, because for the full functioning of multimedia you need a working phone. There are no special changes on the steering wheel: the levers are in place, the buttons too. Adaptive control is equipped with a small joystick, the sound is adjusted with a wheel. In terms of ergonomics, everything is at a very decent level.

Technical data


Initially, the Chinese offer several versions of power units. In its homeland, the car can be equipped with a one and a half or two liter gasoline engine, developing 181 and 218 “horses”, respectively. The Atlas is also offered with a hybrid unit based on a 1,5 liter internal combustion engine: total power – 245 hp. With.

In Kazakhstan, they sell crossovers with engines of one and a half and two liters; on the Russian market, Atlas II is presented as a front-wheel drive version with a derated internal combustion engine (Volvo, Drive-E series) of 2 liters. The reduction in power is due to taxes in the Russian Federation. The engine is paired with a seven-speed robotic transmission. However, the company’s representative office assures that Russians will soon have the opportunity to purchase the Atlas II version in the form of a 4X4. In this case, the car will be equipped with an eight-speed Aisin automatic transmission (the clutch is similar to that used on the Tugella).

Packages


Already in the basic version (average cost - 2 million 309 thousand rubles) there is quite a rich equipment, both in technical and interior terms. All car variants have a panoramic roof, and there are many driver assistants to help, for example, with parking. The second configuration (Flagship) differs from the first in the sun visors mentioned above, interior lighting, and the ability to ventilate the front seats. The driver's seat has received additional settings. Other options include an improved audio system with 11 speakers, projection onto the windshield, and an electric tailgate. The average cost of a car in the Flagship configuration is 2 million 343 thousand 990 rubles.

The top-end configuration, called Flagship Sport, is characterized by large twenty-inch wheels with original wheel design. Other differences include a two-tone body paint, some changes in the LED lighting of the car outside, and the presence of logos inside. The average cost of this Atlas II option is 2,9 million rubles.
