For many Russians, their happiest childhood memories are associated with cars. Not every family had cars; rather, there were more “horseless” ones. But there are relatives with a car who are periodically involved in trips to dachas, villages and to transport furniture. They tried to refuse, but it rarely worked. First, you need to help your loved ones. Secondly, relatives often chipped in money to buy a car, as soon as one lucky person received the coveted “postcard” in the mail. As for the cars of that period, it was mainly Moskvich and Zhiguli cars that were valued. The first ones are smaller, the second ones are larger. “Cossacks” were not liked, especially in the cities. But in rural areas they were valued for their maneuverability. Despite the low-power engine, the flat underbody and motor over the live rear axle worked wonders off-road.


But today there is a video from the AUTOPANORAMA TV channel about Moskvich-408. This is most likely an export version - it has double headlights. The car looks like it was just released recently. But the model was removed from the assembly line back in 1975. Of course, the car is slow, you shouldn’t expect dynamics from it. But it can bring you back to childhood – albeit for a short time. This specific smell of the car alone is worth it...
