Household waste or just garbage has always existed. But specialized vehicles for their export appeared relatively recently. It would seem that the rapid industrialization of the 30s of the last century should have pushed this issue to an immediate solution, but ... Let's not forget that the mass production of Soviet trucks itself was only started at that time. So, before the design proposals in the field of specialized equipment, it was necessary to wait a bit.
The solution of the problem was taken seriously only after the war. Then the Soviet leadership realized that it was completely worthless for the country - the winner of fascism - to take out urban garbage with ordinary trucks. So quickly, with the assistance of the capital's beautification department, the first Soviet garbage truck MS-1 appeared. He entered the streets of Moscow in 1947, and the ZIS-5 chassis became the basis for the first "garbage bin". A little later, the "northern capital" acquired its own transport for garbage collection - MKM-4. Nevertheless, other vehicles became epochal for the heyday of the Soviet state: the container M-30 and the high-speed 53M. They became the "cleaners" of our cities during the reign of Brezhnev. You can learn more about the history of Soviet garbage trucks from the video from the Kostas TV channel (Auto USSR).
