Despite the active work of environmentalists, the emergence of innovative projects for the processing of waste, the problem of its disposal has not only not been resolved, but in a number of countries it is getting worse every year. Forecasts, especially for residents of megacities, are simply frightening: if household waste is not removed for at least a year, per 1 sq. m of their area will have at least 5 kg. Moreover, this figure, albeit slowly, but constantly increases.


Therefore, the demand for utility vehicles looks quite reasonable. Here the figures are also impressive: 40% of all vehicles renewed in Russia are garbage trucks and other similar vehicles. And this means that the fleets of the Russian Federation are annually replenished with three thousand pieces of equipment, one way or another connected with public utilities. And one of the main roles in the removal of household waste is played by garbage trucks - specialized machines that have their own characteristics. The appearance and capabilities of this technique can vary greatly: designers are constantly improving something, trying to make cars more perfect. It is worth considering in more detail the garbage trucks popular in the world and Russia - their classification and models.

Side loading equipment

The most popular in the post-Soviet space. Well suited for relatively small settlements with low volumes of waste. Main advantages:

There are also negative aspects, among which are the possible scattering of debris when using the system, the need to raise the container to a dangerous height (up to 3 m) and the lack of manual loading.

KAMAZ ECO-MB18k

The design has a body of increased rigidity and a press plate that works thanks to a hydraulic system consisting of components from leading manufacturers. Loading waste from the container is carried out automatically in about 1,5 minutes. Pressing takes 40 seconds. Of the benefits, users note:

The system is produced by the Ryazhsky car repair enterprise and is installed on the GAZon Next chassis. In terms of functionality, it resembles the previous model, but in terms of dimensions it is compact. Such a garbage truck is suitable for use in densely built areas. The hydraulic system meets European DIN standards. It contains Italian hydraulic valves, high-pressure hoses, Bussak-Shamban cylinders, operating at temperatures from -30° to +80°. You can order the machine with the left or right position of the manipulator. Of the minuses, it stands out, except for a small body (the car is positioned as compact), a small compaction coefficient (it is 2,5, while on powerful equipment it reaches 9). But the garbage truck is notable for its affordable cost - 2,825 million rubles.

Municipal equipment with rear loading

This version of the garbage truck is more convenient and much more technologically advanced, if we talk about functionality. But it needs professional service. Such equipment is in demand in large cities, because it is able to tightly compress waste and is equipped with a bulky body. These two advantages make it possible to get by with a smaller fleet.

Superstructure GeesinkNorba GPM 15H25

It is very popular in the European Union and is installed on the chassis of Scania, Man and some other truck models. In Russia, most often it can be seen at MAZ. Superstructure Specifications:

In this design, the engineers managed to create a system that evenly distributes waste throughout the body. This increases the amount of garbage to be loaded and prolongs the service life of machine components and parts. Among other advantages, it is worth highlighting the possibility of manually loading waste bags through a special hatch. The negative side is the high cost, starting from 15,5 million rubles.

Hydro-Mak

Many consider the superstructure "advanced" due to its ability to flush the tanks after emptying them of debris. The corresponding system is located at the back and includes a pair of nozzles that supply pressurized water. A tank with a volume of 1900 liters is located behind the cab. It takes 20 liters to wash one container, which takes 0,5 minutes. Dirty water is not poured out, but is collected in a 1400 m3 tank. The superstructure is supplied with a washing gun. And one of the “classic” representatives of Japanese municipal vehicles is the ISUZU Forward 18.0 medium-duty garbage truck. The machine has a carrying capacity of 6,3 tons with a volume of 16 m3. The loading method is rear, while manual filling of the bunker is provided. Cost - from 10,2 million rubles.

Electric garbage trucks

In May last year, KAMAZ presented a new development - a utility vehicle for the removal of household waste, powered by batteries. The Chistogor garbage truck collected a lot of positive feedback at the COMTRANS 2021 exhibition held in September. The car was planned to be launched into a series, but due to well-known political events, this was not possible (tests were carried out back in the summer of 2020). Technical details:

The battery power is enough for a couple of walkers. Although some experts believe that this is not enough. But the electric garbage truck has an undeniable advantage - the absence of noise when working in city yards and exhaust gases that pollute the atmosphere.

Instead of conclusions

In the Russian public utilities, they are gradually getting rid of the old rumbling garbage trucks that can wake up the entire yard of a high-rise building in the morning. They are being replaced by models with rear loading and an electric motor. These are technological and more productive machines, besides they are safer: the lifting height is 1,5 m versus 3 m for a car with a side manipulator. However, the choice of garbage trucks today is so wide that you can choose the equipment for any customer needs.
