Gas turbine trucks from the 60s - they are amazing
A real heavy truck should be diesel - any driver knows this. Although gasoline monsters were exploited in the Soviet Union for a long time, even then they understood that this was not profitable. The same MAZs were originally equipped with diesel engines, and they were produced, we recall, since 1947. But in the US, there was a time when auto giants tried to come up with something new. In the 1950s and 60s, they even wanted to assemble experimental cars with nuclear reactors on board. It's good that nothing good came of it - a compact nuclear engine did not appear.

But there were aircraft gas turbine engines in the automotive industry, and more than once. The conversation is not about some sports exclusive models, but about exclusively commercial projects - heavy mainline tractors. It turned out that aircraft engines have several advantages - they are light and powerful compared to diesel and gasoline power units.

The author of the Autotrends channel will tell in his video about gas turbine cargo tractors. Manufacturers believed that such machines were the future. And why it did not work out, you yourself will find out by watching the video. But the idea is working!
