Peugeot is going to return to Le Mans in partnership with Capgemini

To develop the hypercar racing car for the FIA ​​World Endurance Championship, Peugeot Sport entered into a multi-year contract with Capgemini, a Paris-based French IT services company. After Peugeot announced their return to top-level endurance racing, they needed help with software development, especially with the FIA ​​imposing a freeze on the field for the next four years.




Recall that the French manufacturer left motorsport in 2012 to focus on the production of economical small cars, crossovers and SUVs. Now, with the introduction of the 9X8, Peugeot is set to return to the big leagues of motorsport.

The Peugeot 9X8 is equipped with all-wheel drive (this is indicated by the letter "X" in the index), and is equipped with two engines: a V6 gasoline engine with a displacement of 2.6 liters and a capacity of 680 hp. with, and electric, developing 270 horses, mounted on the front axle. At the same time, the total power of the power plant in no case exceeds the maximum allowable by the regulations of 680 hp. The collaboration with Capgemini will help the racing division's engineers learn a lot more about the car, thereby improving the driving performance of the Peugeot 9X8. The ability to analyze the behavior of the car on the track in real time opens up new perspectives for the French team. In addition, the AI ​​technologies created by the two companies for the 9X8 will also benefit future road cars that Peugeot will soon introduce.



The Peugeot 9X8 hypercar runs on renewable energy fuel, is powered by a new generation of 900-volt batteries, and has an aerodynamic concept without a rear wing.
