GAZelle e-City buses have become serial - all their electric “stuffing” is domestic

The Gorky Automobile Plant has begun mass production of new electric buses. This is GAZelle e-City, which has already been tested in real conditions. There is a demand for equipment - similar models are in demand in a number of Russian cities.


Let us remind you that experienced GAZelle e-City worked in Moscow on the route for a year. During operation, it turned out that the technical characteristics of the vehicles met all requirements. They charged the cars at night and during the drivers’ daytime shift change – that was enough.

Externally, the GAZelle e-City is similar to the petrol version of the City. Nothing surprising - the cars are built on the same chassis. The e-City's electric motor is located at the front, although the drive is rear-wheel drive. Engine power – 136 hp. With.


The cabin can accommodate 16 people. Three will have to ride standing, everyone else will have to sit. There is space for a baby stroller or wheelchair. For passengers with limited mobility there is a special ramp with mechanical control.

Interestingly, during operation, the power reserve in winter turned out to be greater than in summer. The fact is that during the hot season, a lot of electricity is spent on air conditioning. But in winter this is not the case, especially since the interior heater runs on methane.

At the request of the customer, GAZelle e-City can be offered in different configurations. For example, the most budget ones do not have an active door edge or an external button for opening them.

The platform on which the GAZelle e-City is assembled belongs to the NN family. It is designed to produce cars of various types - with gasoline, diesel or electric engines.

The car is framed and has a pneumatic rear suspension, which ensures a smooth ride. By the way, the main components and assemblies of the GAZelle e-City are domestically produced.


The bus has two running batteries – their total capacity is 81 kWh. Interestingly, the manufacturer even offers a choice of several models - the variety is obvious.

Representatives of the Gorky Automobile Plant say that GAZelle e-City is a model independent of import partners. The manufacturer does some things at its own facilities; some components are supplied by Russian companies. The electric bus will be produced even with the next tightening of economic sanctions.

As for the opinion of skeptics, they say that models without internal combustion engines are not required in our country, this is no longer relevant. They have been operating in cities for a long time and have managed to prove their effectiveness.
