Minibuses appeared in the Soviet Union. There was a need for such equipment, but they were produced in small batches. For example, the RAF was considered exclusive. This is natural - a car based on the Volga, and even assembled in Riga. Plus, the car made it possible to transport all employees of the department. YERAZ also produced similar minibuses. Only there they didn’t work out very well. Apparently, this was clear from the beginning, so passenger modifications were not planned at the factory. UAZs were also produced in different versions. But these are SUVs. They were used in difficult operating conditions. And not a single Soviet minibus or van was sold into private hands.
But in Russia everything has changed. The transition to a market economy and the opening of borders to foreign manufacturers forced enterprises to focus on private clients. The Gorky Automobile Plant produced the famous Gazelle. First in an onboard version, and then many different versions appeared, including minibuses and all kinds of vans. True, a dual-pitch tire is a typical cargo design. Therefore, Sobol appeared with a classic layout for minibuses. This car immediately began to be called business class. Not in all versions, of course, but only in exclusive ones. But the domestic model was far from this and its foreign competitors. But everything changes someday. The new GAZ Sobol NN is a clear confirmation of this. And they will talk about the car on the channel “#WONDERFUL TECHNOLOGIES with Georgy Belov.”
