Serial GAZ "Sobol NN" will appear at the end of 2022

GAZ Group has officially announced the launch date for the new Sobol NN car. The assembly of commercial models should begin in the last quarter of 2022. The new Sobol NN will replace the cars of the previous generation, as was planned several years ago.


I am glad that the GAZ Group managed not only to maintain the pace of production, but also continues to develop dynamically. It turned out that economic sanctions against the Russian Federation played the role of a push. Thanks to them, the concern began to actively work on import-substituting units and assemblies.

It was possible to modernize production in a short time, among other things, by obtaining a preferential loan from the IDF. At the same time, GAZ Group invested three times more of its own funds in equipment.


The first production GAZ Sobol NN will be all-metal vans. They will be followed by cargo-passenger versions and other modifications.

Now in Russia there is a good situation for the GAZ Group. Demand for light commercial vehicles has increased as most foreign brands have left our market. Mostly Chinese models remain, but buyers do not trust them.

The new Sobol is a further development of the domestic NN platform. The main task of the project is the maximum localization and improvement. For example, the car will receive a new, lightweight rear axle, of course, with single tires, as it should be for the Sobol line.

The emergence of a new light commercial van will close the niche in which foreign brands reigned supreme. Now you can count on an equivalent replacement, especially since the cost of Sobol NN will obviously be lower.

Due to their dimensions, domestic vans will be able to maneuver even in narrow streets and compact warehouses. This is true in big cities. Yes, and small businesses will appreciate the cargo-passenger vans, which can easily be parked in the yards without causing negativity from the neighbors.


GAZ Group understands that with the departure of competitors, the serial production of Sobol NN is a task of paramount importance. If you do not quickly take advantage of the situation, Chinese light vans can take a niche. Although the domestic buyer prefers trucks from the Gorky Automobile Plant, in the absence of compact models, he will have to purchase cars from the Middle Kingdom.

Sobol NN will be offered with both rear-wheel drive and all-wheel drive. The cost of the cars has not yet been disclosed.
