New generation Opel Grandland presented - only hybrids and electric cars in the range

Opel has presented the new generation Grandland crossover. The car has changed its platform to a more modern one. This made it possible not only to unify it with the Opel Frontera, but also to offer it in a fully electric version.


The technical features of the model are still kept secret. Only the exterior and interior of the crossover were shown. The manufacturer said that the Opel Grandland in electric version will be able to travel up to 700 km on a single charge.

It is already known when the new crossover will go on sale. The model will debut in the EU this fall.


Externally, the Opel Grandland is similar to the recently introduced and revived Frontera crossover. No wonder - they are created on the same platform. Only the new product turned out to be larger due to the space in the trunk and legroom for rear row passengers.

The body length of the next generation Grandland is 4,65 meters. The volume of the luggage compartment with the rear seat folded is also known - 1 liters.

The new generation crossover differs not only in appearance. The car received new headlights created using Intelli-Lux Pixel Matrix HD technology.

The interior is also completely redesigned. A large multimedia screen appeared on the dashboard. Its size is 16 inches. The front seats are now ergonomic, with lateral support on both the cushion and the backrest. The first row seats, even in the basic configuration, received massage, heating and ventilation.

Opel Grandland is created on the STLA Medium platform. It was developed by the “parent” concern Stellantis with an eye to electric cars. But this “trolley” allows you to build hybrid models on its basis.

Only the new Opel Grandland will focus on electric cars. It is not yet known whether the crossover without an internal combustion engine will be produced in one or more versions. This refers to the power that is kept secret.

The power units of hybrid modifications are based on gasoline turbo engines. The engines are the same - with a volume of 1,2 liters. The base hybrid will be “soft”. It will receive a 48-volt starter-generator.


The more expensive version will become a full-fledged rechargeable hybrid. What kind of additional electric motor it will have is still unknown. But thanks to a small running battery, such a crossover can travel up to 85 kilometers without using an internal combustion engine.

The Opel Grandland will be far from a budget model. This is hinted at by adaptive shock absorbers, which are promised even in the “base”, and the Intelli-Drive 2.0 system.

The power of the crossovers will be declassified shortly before the start of sales.
