SsangYong Korando is now offered only in front-wheel drive versions

SsangYong Korando is now offered only in front-wheel drive versions
SsangYong, now called KG Mobility in most countries except Australia, has updated its Korando SUV. Although, the car has not changed much; rather, there is a reduction in modifications.

Now SsangYong Korando is offered in two versions. And among them there are no diesel ones - only turbo-petrol ones. The manufacturer also abandoned all-wheel drive, although such options have been expected since 2023, when they stopped being produced.

The updated SUV, or rather, has long been a crossover, is offered so far only in Australia and in two modifications. The basic one is ELX. They want from 33 thousand dollars (3,08 million rubles) for it.

The top version of the SsangYong Korando is called Ultimate. It costs much more – 38 thousand dollars (3,55 million rubles).

Regardless of the configuration and version, all cars are equipped with a non-alternative turbo-petrol engine with a volume of 1,5 liters and a power of 163 hp. With. They only have front-wheel drive.

Just in case, we need to remind you that the SsangYong Korando, which has been produced since 2010, is a crossover with a frame integrated into the body. This car has little in common with the previous generation model, which is well known in narrow circles of fans of “riding” in the mud. And externally, this is no longer the same “nosed” car with a protruding hood.

There is only one reason why SsangYong switched to crossovers - the gradual decline in sales of frame SUVs. Unfortunately for the brand, their models never became legendary. Therefore, they do not deserve the popularity of the Mercedes-Benz G-Class or Toyota Land Cruiser.

Falling demand led SsangYong to financial collapse. And the brand name in most world markets (KG Mobility) is a whim of the new owner of the company.

The turbo-petrol engine is paired with a six-speed automatic transmission. It was chosen from the Japanese manufacturer Aisin, which allows you not to worry about the reliability of the unit.

Fuel consumption is stated at 7,7 liters. For such a mid-size crossover as the Korando, this is a good result.

The length of the car is 4,45 meters. The interior seats five, the rear seat can be folded into the floor. Due to this, the volume of the luggage compartment increases from 407 to 1 liters.

The main feature of the updated model is a seven-year warranty without mileage limitation. Roadside assistance is offered for the same period. Such conditions apply to official dealers in Australia. Whether they will remain in other markets, where the model will be launched later, is still unknown.
