Mercedes G580 with EQ Technology: the official name of the electric Gelika

Mercedes G580 with EQ Technology: the official name of the electric Gelika
The concept was originally called Electric G Class EQG: that’s how it was presented at CES. Contrary to popular belief, the electric SUV has retained two well-known letters in its new name: the production version of the Mercedes G-Class will receive the index G580 with EQ Technology.

The numbers apparently speak about the main parameter of the power plant: it is obvious that it is more powerful than its predecessor with the G550 index. It is expected that G-class SUVs will be equipped with four electric motors, each of which will rotate its own wheel.

The source of electricity will be a battery with a capacity of 100 kWh, providing a range of 322 km. Of course, not much, but it’s worth considering that the new product is a fairly heavy machine. In addition, in the future, an additional high-density battery with silicon anodes will be installed on the SUV.

The Mercedes-Benz G-class electric car was first officially presented at the end of 2021 as the EQG concept.

What else is known about the new SUV? Not much - the maximum incline steepness is 35, and the exit steepness is 32 degrees. Ground clearance – 249 mm. No other technical specifications have been announced yet. The car's debut will take place on April 24 at the next Beijing Auto Show.
