Overhauling a motorcycle engine was common among the male population of the Soviet countryside. And in the cities there were plenty of handy specialists. Of course, the latter were more about car engines. But they could disassemble and reassemble a power unit like a motorcycle with their eyes closed. And this in a few hours alone. However, there were few specialists in the villages. There, even major repairs often ended in a wedge of the engine. And all because the assembly algorithm was not followed, and not all spare parts were changed. And how many engines are still stored in a semi-disassembled state in old sheds and garages...
Now rebuilding the engine of a Soviet motorcycle is already a feat. And it’s easier to do this than before, fortunately, many have learned to use the Internet. But spare parts are not so easy to find. Soviet reserves have long been depleted, and what they have is sold at high prices. For example, a new CPG for Izh Planeta 5 costs 15 thousand rubles, and only if you’re lucky. Chinese parts are several times cheaper, but do not shine with quality. They also need to be “carefully processed with a file.” In fact, we have to assemble Soviet motorcycle engines from what we managed to get. But the main thing is the correct algorithm. Fortunately, there are enough tools. You can see how the process happens in the video on the “MOTO KOR.” channel.
