FAW showed the latest generation Hongqi H9 2024 model year

The Chinese company FAW presented the flagship from the premium brand Hongqi called H9. The exclusive sedan, originally developed for high-ranking Chinese officials, finally became a “civilian” car, albeit a very expensive one by the standards of the PRC market.


In 2024, the premium sub-brand FAW offers three vehicle series, designated "H", "Q" and "L". The first line is aimed at the middle and high price segments of the Chinese market. The Hongqi H9 sedan has been known for a relatively long time, but it gained great popularity in 2021.


It was then that the last update of the model took place until recently. It completely removed the doubts of Chinese buyers that the Hongqi H9 is the personification of automotive luxury in China. To make it clearer, in this regard, the updated sedan is somewhat similar to our Aurus Senat.

The updated version for the 2024 model year places an emphasis on improving the exterior. Thus, the car received new front optics with arrow-shaped LED DRLs. Chrome decorations are now visible across the entire area of ​​the massive radiator grille.


The wheel rims have also changed for the better - they have acquired an original multi-spoke pattern. Where changes are minimal are on the side and rear of the body. For example, the taillights have the same design and placement as the predecessor. Of course they are equipped with LED lamps.

There are some changes to the lower part of the rear bumper. In particular, diffusers were added, painted in the same color as the body. Chrome trim was added for contrast. Due to this, the sedan looks more expressive from the rear compared to the car of the 2021 model year.


As for the technical part, the new product will offer buyers a choice of at least three types of internal combustion engines. The 1,8-litre, 2,5-litre V6 and 3,0-litre V6 have all been confirmed - each with a turbocharger. There are suggestions that the engine line will be replenished with a powerful 2,0-liter engine.

The most expensive version with a 3,0-liter gasoline engine develops a power of 337 hp. With. So far, the Hongqi brand is not ready to completely abandon traditional fuel in favor of electricity. There is still no hint that the H9 sedan will be available as a hybrid or electric car.
