Hydrogen Aurus Senat is faster than gasoline – the secrets of new items are revealed

Aurus showcased its premium hydrogen-powered Senat car. The manufacturer shared with the visitors of the Innoprom exhibition the technical features of the novelty.


A huge sedan, designed to replace the government ZIL, can accelerate to 100 km / h in just 4 seconds. For comparison, the gasoline version of Aurus Senat develops the same speed in 6 seconds.

The car will be produced only in all-wheel drive version. When mass production will begin is still unknown.


Judging by the information provided by US, the executive class car is equipped with an electric motor, which is paired with a hydrogen generator. How many engines the Aurus Senat has is not said, but there should be at least two of them - on the front and rear axles. It is likely that there are four of them in general - one for each wheel.

The power reserve of the novelty turned out exactly as it was indicated in 2021, when the electric car was being developed. This is 600 km, which is provided by a hydrogen system paired with a 100 kilowatt running battery.

What power the car develops - the manufacturer did not specify. But judging by the fact that the car accelerates 50% faster than the 598 hp petrol version. s., here the “horses” should be under 1. Moreover, the electric car is heavier than the version with a traditional internal combustion engine.

So far, all hydrogen Aurus Senat are presented only in the form of prototypes. They are designed for technology development and testing. To start mass production, you need to prepare the infrastructure. Plus, adjust the technical regulations for electric and hydrogen car models.

When mass production of the new Aurus Senat will begin and how much they will cost is unknown. In 2020, when the project was only in its infancy, they talked about 2024. Russia is now under economic sanctions, so the timing is likely to shift.


In 2020, the developer of the Cortege project announced its plans to introduce a range of hydrogen electric cars of various classes. FSUE "NAMI" was going to make both budget and premium cars.

At the beginning of September 2021, a prototype of the Aurus Senat hydrogen electric car was shown. And only now a number of technical details of the model have been revealed.
