Updated Hyundai Ioniq 5 presented - new body kit and increased power reserve

The South Korean company Hyundai presented the official restyling of the Ioniq 5 model. Both the basic electric cars and the “charged” version with the N prefix were subject to changes. The key feature is that all cars received an increased power reserve of about 10%.


A new version has also appeared - N Line. This will be the “middle” configuration in the line.

Let us remind you that this is the first restyling for the Hyundai Ioniq 5. Three years have passed since the production cars were shown to the public. Competitors are not asleep, especially Chinese ones, so it's time for a global update.


New batteries helped increase the power reserve by 10%. Now their capacity is not 77,4, but 84 kWh. Plus, the manufacturer promises that the batteries are made using the latest technologies - they are less sensitive to high positive and negative temperatures.

Externally, the updated Hyundai Ioniq 5 is no different from the pre-restyling version. The manufacturer decided that developing a new body kit was unprofitable. The electric car already looks modern, and such modifications only increase its price. This will affect the final cost, meaning customers will have to pay more. In the context of intensifying “price wars” unleashed by Chinese manufacturers, this may negatively affect sales.

But they decided to redesign the Hyundai Ioniq 5 N even externally. This is understandable - the modification is “top-end”, so it should look perfect. The electric car in this version has acquired a new body kit - bumpers and sills. They received a more aggressive appearance than the pre-restyling ones. R20 alloy wheels with an original design appeared.

But they worked on the strength base of the body for all Hyundai Ioniq 5, although it is not noticeable from the outside. Now the rear pillars and all four side doors are reinforced. How exactly this was achieved is not reported. But there are two options - additional rigidity elements from the inside or the use of more durable alloys.


Several physical buttons were added to the cabin to please customers who prefer the classics. The wireless charging panel has changed its location - it has “moved” higher. The fact is that customers complained about the inconvenient location.

Serial production of the restyled Hyundai Ioniq 5 has already started. The brand's press service said that the electric car will hit the showrooms of Korean dealers in March. By the end of 2024, the updated car will appear in other countries.

Prices for the restyled Hyundai Ioniq 5 will be announced a little later. This electric car is unlikely to officially come to Russia. But no one canceled parallel imports.
