Avtotor is preparing to release a second car under its brand

The Russian company Avtotor is preparing a new electric car for mass production. It will be offered to drivers under the AmberAuto brand.


We can rejoice - the Kaliningrad enterprise has finally mastered its own machines, as promised? Unfortunately, this is far from the case. For now, a scheme similar to that used at the Moskvich plant is working.

This means that cars from foreign partners will be assembled under their own brand. The only thing they have is nameplates. And even those will be stamped in China. However, it is possible that some components for Avtotor cars will be domestic. For example, batteries.


And cars produced under your own brand are easier to customize to suit your needs, or more precisely, to localize. As the practice and experience of AvtoVAZ has shown, Chinese brands do not want to adapt to the requests of their partners.

They want to sell their cars, collect them - please. But changing, redoing, and especially localizing is a no-no. Look, they’ll copy it and set up full-fledged production. Then you don't need partners.

It is already known which car the Avtotor managers chose. This is the JMEV EV3 electric car. A compact model designed primarily for large cities.

Despite its modest dimensions, the car has five doors. The length of 3,72 meters was enough even for a small luggage compartment. At the same time, the JMEV EV3 is inferior in size to the Lada Granta.

The electric car has been sold in China since 2019. It has already gained popularity in its niche and has undergone restyling.

The rear seat of the JMEV EV3 can accommodate two people in relative comfort. Naturally, if they have grown more than 180 cm, their knees will rest against the backs of the front seats. If you really need it, you can pick up a third passenger. There is also a place for him on the “sofa”. This will only make everyone uncomfortable. Although, it is better to go poorly than to go well.


The engine of the JMEV EV3 has no alternative – it develops only 45 hp. With. Top speed is limited to 100 km/h.

But the power reserve of 320 kilometers is pleasing. With this, the car can be charged once a week, if you only move around the city in work/shop/home mode.

JMEV EV3 vehicle kits have already begun to arrive at the Avtotor plant. The electric car will most likely be the most affordable in the manufacturer’s lineup. However, there is no information on prices yet. In China, JMEV EV3 costs about 9 thousand dollars (831 thousand rubles).
