The Ural Automobile Plant is gaining momentum - truck production has increased by 45%

The Ural Automobile Plant announced its results for 2023. While others were trying to find new suppliers to replace those who left due to economic sanctions, the domestic truck manufacturer tried to cope on its own.


The result is obvious - 2023 thousand cars were produced in 12,2. If we compare it with 2022, it turns out that truck production has increased by more than 45%. This result is only pleasing. And Ural is increasing its momentum.

Even at the end of 2022, it became clear that the production of trucks needs to be increased. After all, foreign brands began to break contracts with Russian partners and leave our market. But the country needs new trucks in any case.


In 2022, the Ural plant sold 113 more cars than it produced. This is explained by a sharp increase in demand after the introduction of economic sanctions against the Russian Federation. Where do the “extra” cars come from? They remained in warehouses.

This year, the Ural automobile plant plans to increase volumes - it plans to assemble at least 19 thousand trucks. To achieve this, the company has already begun to invest in production.

The amount is known - at least 5 billion rubles will be invested over 20 years. And this is mainly for the construction of new workshops. More than 2023 billion have already been spent on modernizing production in 7.

Now the most global project of the Ural automobile plant is the construction of a new assembly building. Its production capacity is 5 thousand cars per year. The project is being implemented - the work is reaching the “finish line”. But the site of the logistics center has already been landscaped.

The Ural Automobile Plant managed to create a whole line of special trucks designed to work in the harshest conditions of the North - the “Arctic Bus”. Scientists from several leading Russian universities helped implement this project. This means that the equipment was modified taking into account the climate, and not just as the engineers saw fit.


The Ural Automobile Plant began producing its own “bridges” for heavy trucks. Now specialists are working on their own line of transfer cases.

Innovative technologies are not alien to domestic enterprises. For example, a line of electric trucks intended for public utilities is being developed. First of all, it is a hybrid garbage truck. It will be able to run on both pure electricity and a diesel internal combustion engine.

Russian passenger car manufacturers would do well to learn from factories such as Ural, GAZ and KamAZ. They realized long ago that in the modern world they can only rely on themselves.
