The manufacturer has long promised to make a large-scale restyling of its flagship model, but due to the epidemiological situation in the world, this was postponed indefinitely. AvtoVAZ representatives say that the updated Lada Vesta will appear in the spring of 2022.

The robotic gearbox, which many complained about, was replaced with a Jatco CVT. Vesta's suspension has always been distinguished by its strength and reliability. Engines work without problems on 92 gasoline. It turns out that Lada Vesta is an ideal folk car for an average Russian family.

New design of the updated Lada Vesta

The key point of the Lada Vesta design update in 2022 will be the close cooperation between the two brands controlled by the Renault Group – the Romanian Dacia and the Russian Lada. It was stated that the model range of cars of the two manufacturers will receive the maximum possible number of common components and assemblies.



Alejandro Mesonero-Romanos, a well-known Spanish designer who previously worked for Volkswagen, and now Dacia-Lada's chief design specialist, is responsible for the appearance of the updated Lada Vesta. At AvtoVAZ, Jean-Philippe Salard is in charge of car design, but all his projects must be approved by Alejandro Mesonero-Romanos.

It is not known for sure whether the eminent Spaniard had a hand in the design of the updated Lada Vesta, even now, from spy photos, you can tell exactly what changes will be in the design of the car.

Rumors that headlights from the new Renault Logan will be put on Vesta have not been confirmed - the front lighting equipment will become narrow and will receive LEDs. The hood and fenders will remain the same, but the molding will become angular. Factory parking sensors will appear in the front bumper.
The taillights will also narrow, the license plate decided to be placed a little higher. There will be a new antenna in the style of "shark fin".
But from the sides, the car, most likely, will not change, at least it does not portend anything.

Interior changes

Inside, it was also decided to make a few changes. For example, there will be a new steering wheel with extended multifunctionality. Top versions of Lada Vesta will receive a large vertical tablet on the front panel, which was first implemented in Tesla cars and is now used by other automakers. I'm glad that Vesta buyers will be able to enjoy such a large multimedia screen, while the Renault Group puts them only on Arkana, Captur and the latest generation of Clio.



Lada Vesta in simpler trim levels will receive new multimedia systems with a Lada Enjoy Pro display with support for Apple CarPlay, Android Auto and the ability to access Yandex services.

A new engine or a serious revision of the old one?

The 1,8-liter engine was phased out for the 2022 model year. The fact is that it is much more expensive to repair and maintain, while the dynamic characteristics do not differ much. The demand for modifications with such a motor is lower.

But there are rumors that AvtoVAZ is not going to abandon the 21179 engine with a displacement of 1,8 liters. It will be modernized, finalized to the Euro-6 standard, and its power will be increased to 136 hp.



It was decided to leave engines with a displacement of 1,6 liters unchanged, there are no special complaints about them from buyers. The motors are economical, easy to repair and maintain, time-tested. Of course, you should not expect dynamics from them, but the philosophy of such cars as Lada Vesta is economy, affordability, and so on.

When will the restyled Lada Vesta appear?

Initially, it was assumed that the restyled Lada Vesta would be launched into mass production at the end of 2020. But the epidemiological situation in the world forced us to reconsider our plans. The debut of the updated Lada Vesta was scheduled for early 2021, but this was not destined to come true.

Now they say that the restyling of the popular car will be presented before the end of 2021, and mass production will begin no earlier than in the spring of 2022.

Official representatives of AvtoVAZ have already reported that the production has begun preparations for the production of restyled Lada Vesta. It is planned that the production will be launched at the Izhevsk Automobile Plant, which is part of the AvtoVAZ group.



The restyled car will most likely be called Lada Vesta FL. It is to be hoped that the model will become better than the old Vesta, they will try to deprive it of all the shortcomings of its predecessor.



While the updated car is not ready for mass production, the commission, which recently visited the Izhevsk Automobile Plant, found a number of shortcomings:
