2022 Mitsubishi Airtrek electric crossover debuts with bold styling

The Japanese company Mitsubishi introduced the Airtrek as a concept of the same name back in early 2022 at the Shanghai Auto Show. And now, in November, the manufacturer is presenting a serial version of the electric crossover that is completely ready for mass use. If its name reminds you of something, this is most likely due to the fact that the Outlander SUV has been sold in the Land of the Rising Sun under the same brand for several years. Now it's back, but in China and as an electric car created by GAC Mitsubishi Motors.




The Airtrek 2022 is the final model with split LED headlights. The layout is interesting: daytime running lights are located near the upper edge of the bumper, while the main group of headlights is located in its lower part and is arranged in the shape of the number 7. This solution is used on the latest Mitsubishi products and gives the crossover a corporate identity. If you look closely, you will notice that the front parking assistant camera is located directly below the brand logo, and there is a large radar sensor at the bottom of the front bumper.

When you look at the profile of the car, you can immediately notice the catchy light-alloy wheels, made in a two-tone style. Another detail worth noting is that the 2022 Mitsubishi Airtrek will get retractable door handles, and a large “EV” badge will be placed on the front doors. Facing the wheel arches emphasizes the features of the crossover, a sunroof is made in the roof.

The rear lights of the new electric car refer us to the Skoda Karoq. The "EV" logo reappears on the tailgate, where it is joined by the brand and model names in Chinese. The gray trim of the front grille continues into the rear bumper surround, where three stacked reflectors are mounted on each side.

The interior of the crossover is simple: most of the controls have been replaced by a large touch screen. It was also equipped with a digital instrument panel and augmented reality technology for the navigation system.



As for the technical characteristics, at the moment the dimensions of the car and some details about its transmission are known. The length of the SUV is 4630 mm, width 1920 mm, height 1728 mm. The weight of the car is 1900 kg, the electric car is equipped with a 69,9 kWh battery. The battery capacity is enough for a trip of 520 kilometers without recharging. Electric motor power - 181 hp Mitsubishi Airtrek 2022 will go on sale in China next year.
