What is a Jawa motorcycle for two-wheelers who grew up in the 70s and 90s? This is not a simple vehicle, but something more. It was models from Czechoslovakia that began to turn motorcycles and their owners into those who are now commonly called bikers. Although, in the USSR they were known as "rockers", especially in the second half of the 1980s.
Motorcycles of the Jawa brand were considered "classmates" of the Soviet IZH models, but differed in build quality, reliability and smoothness. Izhevsk designers also had their own Javas - Jupiter, for example, also a two-cylinder with a 350 cm3 engine. The Planet-Sport model was also admired, but none of the Soviet motorcycles could compare with the Jawa in terms of quality / reliability. Back in the 1950s, Czech designers developed and put into production a serial model with a 500 cm3 four-stroke engine. This is the Jawa 500 OHC, which was produced from 1952 to 1958. At that time, Czech motorcycles were not yet delivered to the USSR, the first batch of bikes was ordered in the early 60s, so we know almost nothing about the 500 cc model.
However, the Jawa 500 OHC was not popular in Europe either. The motorcycle turned out to be too expensive, enthusiasts bought it. You can get acquainted with the unknown "Java" by watching the video on the "Mysportbike" channel.
