We are talking about several modern engines that were assembled on the AVTOVAZ conveyors in Togliatti. The problem is that these power units were made using imported components from a number of Western European countries.
The same applies to robotic gearboxes. Their production is localized in Russia, but it is now impossible due to the lack of a number of foreign parts.

Ideally, it would be to arrange the production of components at Russian factories. It is possible that this will be the case in the future, but it is definitely not worth counting on this in the coming year.
AVTOVAZ has no illusions on this score. Therefore, there is an active search for alternative suppliers of parts for the production of sixteen-valve engines and robotic gearboxes.
Businessmen from Western Europe are ready to work with AVTOVAZ. The problem is the existing economic sanctions imposed against the Russian Federation. Work directly will lead to high fines and will be unprofitable.
We have to work out alternative supply channels. It turned out to be not as easy as it seems at first glance. Even small or "dummy" one-day firms cannot simply transfer parts across the border - they will not be allowed through.
A number of domestic media say that their sources, close to the leadership of AVTOVAZ, claim that the search for suppliers is actively underway. Alternative routes through other countries are being worked out.

There is information that the search for suppliers will take from three months. It is possible that the production of the necessary parts will be arranged in China - they are ready to take on any work there, especially since cooperation with AVTOVAZ will be long-term.
Interestingly, the company's management does not rule out the return of the most reliable "Ladov" engine in the line - this is the H4M, which was supplied by the Renault-Nissan concern. The French manufacturer is not averse to resuming supplies, only he is hindered by economic sanctions and pressure from the government of his country.
As for the return of the classic automatic transmission and the Jatco variator to the AVTOVAZ conveyors, it is hardly worth expecting their return in the near future. These are Japanese units, and this country is not in the warmest relations with Russia.
