Renault in May ranked fourth in car sales, despite the withdrawal from the Russian Federation

Almost 1,8 thousand new Renault cars were sold in May. How is this possible if the manufacturer left the Russian market?

It's simple - the management of Renault officially announced its departure only on May 16th. Until that time, dealers continued to receive cars. Moreover, we tried to order the maximum batches of the most popular models in our country so that they would last longer.



In light of the periodic rise in price, there was an opportunity to earn money by holding cars in warehouses. As a result, Renault took fourth place in the ranking of new car sales in Russia in May 2022.

What will happen to the supply of French cars in the near future is still unknown. AvtoVAZ, which has long established close relations with this concern, is trying to negotiate. For example, there are rumors that in 2024 the Russian company will start assembling Renault Duster crossovers under its own name.

They try to keep details about cooperation with Renault secret. It is unprofitable for a French manufacturer to advertise its business relations in the light of economic sanctions against the Russian Federation.

Judging by the Renault dealerships that continue to operate, the company will not leave the huge Russian market so easily. But the fact that the supply of new batches of cars to our country has been stopped is for sure. The rare car transporters that some Russians saw in May are prepaid lots.

The fact that there are fewer new Renault cars in Russia every month is evidenced by dispassionate statistics. Compared to the May period last year, the number of cars sold by Renault decreased by 86%.



It is still possible to rank the popularity of new French cars in Russia. For example, the first place in May was taken by the Duster model. Everyone who raised money for a crossover decided to take it while it is on sale, despite the periodic price increase.

In second place was the popular state employee Renault Logan. The model is now considered the cheapest new foreign car that can be purchased in Russia. In third place is the co-platformer Renault Logan - Sandero.
