Choosing a modern motorcycle M1nsk - D4 125, X250 or SCR 250

Choosing a modern motorcycle M1nsk - D4 125, X250 or SCR 250
Motorcycles brand "Minsk" were known throughout the Soviet Union. The plant still exists, but it is bankrupt. Assembles two-wheeled vehicles of MotoVeloZavod LLC. This enterprise is officially considered the successor of the famous plant.

Many do not know, but the M1nsk motorcycles that are sold now have nothing to do with those Soviet Minsks, except for the name. These are typical Chinese models, they can be found in many countries of the world under different brands.

M1nsk D4 125

The very first new bike of the Minsk JSC "Motovelo" (then the brand was called that). The state employee, which was supposed to be a replacement for the outdated small-cubic capacity two-stroke engines.

The model appeared in 2014, and is still being produced, although it is assembled by employees of another legal entity. But everything is official - the successor and the lease of the plant's space, in fact, nothing has changed.

You can listen to stories that they themselves went to China and told local manufacturers how to make motorcycles. In fact, this will not change the essence - M1nsk D4 125 is a model from China.

Some argue that the bike was created with an eye on the famous Yamaha YBR 125, but we will deal with this moment. The motorcycle is a complete copy of the Honda CG 125/150, you can put parts from the Japanese.

M1nsk D4 125 is assembled from Chinese spare parts, has typical problems for such equipment:

  • ? The chain is stretching
  • ? The stars are fading away
  • ? The original battery is weak
  • ? Metal is not durable
  • ? Plastic fasteners break off

But nothing serious, the motorcycle turned out beautiful, it looks like the Soviet "Minskachi".

The engine here is a four-stroke with a displacement of 125 cubic centimeters and a power of 10,5 liters. With. Air cooling. The motor is simple and reliable - this is a copy of the Honda unit from the old CG model. The engine is economical, and a 12-liter gas tank is enough for 300-400 km.

Otherwise, nothing modern can be found here, except for the front disc brake. Behind the drum.

Advantages of the model:

  • ? Engine reliability - you can only break it on purpose, and a new piston is inexpensive
  • ? Simplicity of design means ease of repair
  • ? Low price - a bike in Moscow costs 90 rubles
  • ? Weight 100 kg
  • ? Ground clearance 21 centimeters
  • ? Versatility - the motorcycle is suitable for the role of the first

There are also disadvantages, like any Chinese bike:

  • ? The quality of the metal - it’s “rice” or “plasticine” here, as you like it better, it won’t get better
  • ? Suspension for forest roads is rather weak - M1nsk D4 125 is more of a city bike
  • ? The bike sags under two riders - it is treated by replacing the shock absorbers with stiffer ones
  • ? Vibration at high rpm

This is not to say that the bike is perfect, but over the years of operation it has proved to be reliable and hardy. After the purchase, it is advisable to sort it out - tighten the bolts, put it on the thread lock, shift the wiring, ask for contacts.

The piston easily nurses 20 km even with harsh operation, for many it works even for 000 without replacement.

The M1nsk D4 125 has long been the best motorcycle in its price range. Yamaha YBR 125 costs twice as much, so many people buy this bike for one season, then move up to the cubature.

M1nsk X 250

The most popular motorcycle from a Belarusian assembly manufacturer today is the M1nsk X 250. An aggressive looking light enduro with a 250cc engine, so often they write about volume.

In this class, the motorcycle is notable for its low price and stylish design, the only direct competitor of the model is the ZiD-250, which, by the way, costs a little less.

Externally, the M1nsk X 250 looks modern, but technically it is a bike from the 1980s. By the way, aggressive appearance often plays bad jokes with new owners. They start jumping from slides and springboards, exploiting the Belarusian Chinese as a full-fledged enduro.

M1nsk X 250 is a light version of the SUV. For trips in the forest, the field, and so on, it is suitable, but on special enduro tracks it will not last long.

The engine here is single-cylinder. The working volume is 223 cubic centimeters, so the model was proudly called "X 250". The motor is a copy of an old Honda engine from the 1970s and 80s. Almost all Chinese motorcycles are equipped with such units. Power 16,3 liters. With. speed 110 km/h.

The gearbox is five-speed, works clearly, albeit loudly. The fork does not differ in rigidity, at least the oil in it needs to be changed. Ideally, put a knot from a Japanese bike if active off-road driving is expected.

The chain here is traditional for Chinese motorcycles - “plasticine”, so it’s better to put a high-quality one if you don’t want to tighten it every 1 km and change it after 000.
Disc brakes front and rear, not to say that they are powerful, but they are enough for a small-capacity driver. I would like to note LED optics and a USB port.

The official fuel consumption of the M1nsk X 250 is 3 liters per 100 km. In fact, it is more - about 4,5-5 liters. off-road. In the city, you can really fit into 3,5 liters.

The main advantages of the motorcycle:

  • ? Appearance
  • ? Simple and reliable engine
  • ? Price - 125 rubles
  • ? Parts Availability
  • ? Minimum weight

Disadvantages of the model:

  • ? Bad stock tires
  • ? Chain and stars "plasticine"
  • ? It's better to change the steering wheel
  • ? Vibration at high rpm

The motorcycle is interesting, but you need to understand what a light enduro is. For serious off-road this bike is not suitable, but for the city and countryside it is an ideal vehicle.

M1nsk Scrambler SCR 250

The most “foppish” M1nsk motorcycle is the SCR 250 scrambler. The bike looks stylish, but it is small. It’s not clear from the side or in the photo, but once you see the M1nsk SCR 250 and sit on it, everything becomes clear.

But if the rider weighs up to 80 kilograms and has a height of no higher than 175 centimeters, the motorcycle will do. For the city, this is an ideal model, if the owner matches the description, you can drive on roads of any quality.

The bike looks like it's custom from a tuning company. The Chinese did their best, you can’t say anything, well, the Belarusians are also great - they chose such a model!

The engine is expected here - the same single-cylinder air vent for 223 cm3 as on the M1nsk X 250 enduro. Only the power is 0,5 "horses" higher - 17 hp. With. No wonder - the model is newer, the Chinese managed to upgrade the motor.

There will definitely be no problems with spare parts for the engine, but there may be questions with other elements. Fortunately, there is nothing to break here - the metal is everywhere such that you can safely cook and straighten. The tank is 12,5 liters, and the consumption of gasoline is 3,5 per 100 kilometers.

The maximum speed is declared 120 km / h, but cruising here is no more than 90, then the vibration gets on your nerves.

These are the most popular M1nsk motorcycles. The manufacturer collects several more models, but they are not in such demand as the three above. Many may not like the Chinese origin of the once-legendary bikes, but it's better than nothing! Motorcycles are beautiful and affordable, which for most buyers is still the main selection criterion.
