Black Swan cargo drone received a license for cargo transportation in the European Union

Bulgarian developer Dronamics has announced that it has successfully completed the licensing of its flagship model Black Swan (translated as "Black Swan"). This is an important milestone in the development of unmanned cargo transport, the airline became the first to have the right to use drones to move all types of cargo permitted by law.

The EU light UAV operator certificate allows the novelty to be operated in all EU countries, which expands the scope of use of this type of transport. Commercial flights BVLOS (out of line of sight of the operator) allow you to establish an extensive system of cargo transportation.



The first base will be an airfield in Malta, where the headquarters of Dronamics is located, another site has begun to be equipped in Italy. At the same time, the company plans to create a global network of drone ports in 14 EU countries. Today it is planned to organize a complex, which includes 42 points.

It is worth noting that the creators managed to carry out a huge amount of work in a short time. The novelty was presented in December 2021, and already in May 2022 it was certified and ready for operation.



If the approved schedule is followed, the Black Swan will make its first commercial flights in November-December.

Technical specifications

According to the management of Dronamics, this is the most economical option for air travel today. Shipping costs will be about half the market average. Due to this, it is planned to ensure high loading of the lines in a few months after their opening.

This is a large aircraft with a wingspan of 16 meters. It reaches speeds of up to 200 km/h and is capable of flying up to 2500 km, which is enough for most air travel. The drone can fly up to 6700 meters and land in confined spaces, which is often the case at remote airfields and in mountainous areas.



At present, the Black Swan has a load capacity of 350 kg, but this figure can be increased over time. Work to improve the design and improve performance is ongoing.

According to engineers, the drone is equipped with modern tracking systems, which provides full flight control and minimizes the risk of accidents. The equipment is suitable for transportation of various goods, including those representing increased danger.
