After analyzing the statistics provided by the Association of European Businesses, we can say that sales have become record low. And this is not at all due to a drop in consumer demand. Russian drivers are buying up cars even in expensive trim levels. And manufacturers can not meet the demand in full.
In April 2021, despite problems with electronics, almost 152 new cars of various brands were sold in the Russian Federation. And this despite the fact that dealers tried to sell not the cheapest equipment, and it was difficult to find models in the “base”.

In April 2022, only 32,7 thousand new cars of different brands and classes were sold. The fall was more than 78%.
Against the backdrop of the departure of a number of foreign brands from the Russian Federation, the domestic manufacturer AvtoVAZ, as expected, became the leader. Its dealers were able to sell 8,5 thousand cars to the population.
The first place was taken by LADA Granta, which was also expected against the backdrop of recent price increases. On the second place was Vesta - despite the increase in cost, the demand for this model exceeded supply. In third place is LADA Niva.
Even the leaders of the rating showed a record drop in sales in April compared to last year - from 64 to 82%. These are still normal figures, considering how AvtoVAZ has been operating in recent months - constant downtime.

The second and third places in the sales ranking among brands were occupied by South Korean manufacturers Kia and Hyundai, respectively. These companies continue to operate in Russia. Hyundai Solaris turned out to be the most popular foreign car among our drivers – it was able to overtake Creta. This is due to a sharp rise in the price of cars - some customers simply did not have enough money to buy a more expensive crossover.
In second place after Hyundai Solaris is Kia Rio. Many have chosen the cars of the French manufacturer Renault, which is about to leave the Russian car market.
Against the backdrop of a catastrophic decline in car sales in the Russian Federation, Chinese Exeed and Japanese Isuzu stand out favorably - they have an increase compared to April 2021.
