According to the press service of the Sollers company, the main thing for both parties is the joint assembly of models in Russia and the development of technologies. The partners see the future in electric cars - they are given close attention.
A roadmap for the project is currently being developed. It is planned that it will be signed in mid-2022. These are not just talks - this cooperation was discussed at the highest level - during the meeting of Russian President Vladimir Putin with Chinese President Xi Jinping.

So far, in our country, the Chery brand is represented by gasoline cars. But in China, both hybrids and all-electric models are sold.
In the near future, they plan to bring the Exeed LX compact crossover to Russia. This is one of Chery's sub-brands. The car was created on the basis of Tiggo 7, but has a richer package. Under the hood, most likely, there will be two options for gasoline engines - 1,6 atmospheric and 1,5-liter turbo.
It is also planned to transfer to Russia the production of Chery Tiggo 4 Pro, a compact crossover of the budget segment. But the "Pro" in the title hints at the fact that the model will be equipped more substantially.
There are also plans to bring the stylish SUV Chery Omoda 2022 to Russia in 5. Under the hood, this car has a 1,6-liter gasoline turbo engine with a capacity of 197 hp. With.
By the end of 2022, an electric crossover of the brand will also enter Russia, but what model it will be is not disclosed.
Clarifications whether all these cars will be assembled at the Ulyanovsk Automobile Plant have not been made.

What will happen to traditional UAZ models? Nothing is known about this either. Most likely, they will continue to be collected in small batches. But updates will most likely have to be forgotten, since Sollers has clearly stated its focus on the production of Chinese cars and the development of joint electric cars.
Most likely, UAZs will be sold as long as there is at least some demand for them. Judging by the situation, which has been observed for more than a dozen years, this can drag on for many years ...
It is also possible that the Ulyanovsk Automobile Plant will eventually be completely sold to the Chinese side. Maybe it's even for the better - the new owner will probably decide to update the long-suffering "Loaf" and "Hunter".
