Flying Boat to start operating in Dubai in November 2023

The Jet ZeroEmission, a hydrofoil developed by a Swiss company, will be the first recreational vehicle of its kind. The zero-emission, hydrogen-powered vessel will start operating in Dubai next fall.


The underwater part of the structure raises the hull about a meter above the surface. This makes the water resistance much less than planing boats. When moving along the waves, the ship hardly sways, which is important for people suffering from seasickness.

When accelerating, the "flying boat" develops a speed of 18 knots. During the movement, the indicators will be 35-40 knots. The main purpose of the novelty is to serve the guests of Dubai hotels, as well as high-ranking officials and tourists.



The power plant requires special attention. A pair of hydrogen fuel cells power the silent engines.

This is not the first concept of this type. Many developers tried to implement this solution, but not a single prototype became a serial model. There are examples of racing boats participating in the America's Cup.

Well-known yachtsman Alex Tebo, founder and head of Jet ZeroEmission, said that most of the research is over. The concept has passed almost all the tests, but funding of 10 million euros is needed to complete the work. Some of them have already been received, there are agreements with investors, which makes it possible to guarantee that all the planned stages will be completed on time.

Tebo is known for having independently designed and built the hydrofoil trimaran L'Hydroptère. He has been working on similar projects for decades and in 2009 set a speed record on his ship.



He explained that the last tests will be carried out in Dubai, where interested companies have been found that provide everything necessary for work. The Jet will be the first ship to operate without waves, noise or harmful emissions. The development team expects that the novelty will be of interest to hotel owners from all over the world.

The design of the boat is more like an airplane than a watercraft. This is a capsule with streamlined contours 10 meters long. Inside it can accommodate 14 people including the pilot. Panoramic glazing will allow you to enjoy the surrounding landscapes. Production material - carbon fiber. Thanks to him, the design turned out to be durable and lightweight.

The first trip is planned during the COP28 climate conference, which will be held in the UAE in November 2023.
