The fact that the teaser of the new product is not in Chinese, but in English, gives us reason to assume that the model is aimed primarily at the European and American markets.

In numerous spy photographs of the pickup truck, it is noticeable that some examples have a right-hand drive layout rather than a left-hand drive one. Most likely, the car will be sold in the UK, Japan, Australia and South Africa.
In many ways, the Shark can be seen as a pickup truck version of the Fang Cheng Bao Bao 5. It uses the same DMO platform that is specifically designed for plug-in hybrid SUVs.
The mentioned basis is focused on energy efficiency and high cross-country ability of the vehicle. The pickup will receive a controlled all-wheel drive transmission that automatically adjusts the torque distribution between the axles.
The electric differential lock, implemented in the DMO platform, operates up to 30 times faster than a mechanical one. The system's response is calculated in milliseconds, so the accuracy of its operation remains high even when driving on ice and in other difficult conditions.
The DMO platform supports a longitudinal arrangement of the power plant. In particular, it is 100% compatible with 1,5 and 2 liter turbocharged petrol engines. These motors are part of the Xiaoyun hybrid system developed by BYD.
So far nothing interesting is known about the car, so we can only wait for the start of the Beijing Motor Show. Photo: youtube.com
It is not yet known which power units will be offered for the Shark. For example, the Bao 5 is only available with a 1,5-liter turbocharged engine. In any case, both engines have greater thermal efficiency and are equipped with a high-pressure injection system.
The 1,5 liter engine produces 194 hp. s., while the 2,0-liter develops 245 hp. With. The cruising range in combined operating mode reaches 1200 km with an average fuel consumption of 7,8 l/100 km.
BYD will reveal more detailed and accurate technical specifications of the new Shark pickup truck in a few days. So far there are assumptions that sales of the new product will begin at the end of 2024, with an emphasis on exports.
