Homemade ZIL “Blue Bird” is not a Soviet model, but also a “rogue”

During its existence, the Likhachev plant created many vehicles, primarily trucks and specialized ones. However, their cars also turned out to be quite good - limousines. But one of the most interesting models is the ZIL-49061 “Blue Bird”. This floating all-terrain vehicle appeared in the 1970s. We made equipment specifically for evacuating astronauts in any conditions. By the way, some cars are still running and are used for their intended purpose. Such equipment does not fall into private hands, even now. Enthusiasts are very excited about this and are trying to create something similar.


The authors of the channel "Polygon-98" made their own version of "Blue Bird". The technology has little in common with the Soviet model. But this is also a ZiL, into which a lot of effort has been invested. This is not a snow and swamp-going vehicle, of course, although the cross-country ability of this vehicle is clearly no worse than that of standard Soviet military trucks. The only question is, is the homemade design reliable? And how it was made and the first tests of the new “Blue Bird” can be seen in the video. And even though the mounting of the body raises questions, this all-terrain vehicle is unlikely to have to carry tons of cargo. And if necessary, the structure can always be strengthened. If you want to be closer to the original, then the guys can build a new chassis - a three-axle one. Then it will look even more like the ZIL-49061, and not just the characteristic coloring.
