In 2023, a significant event took place for fans of small aircraft. A small anniversary was celebrated in Taganrog - the assembly of the 250th SP-30 aircraft. This technique was also called an air car for its unpretentiousness and budget. Although, the basic SP-30 now costs much more than the average car. For an aircraft in the simplest configuration, intended for cultivating farmland, they are asking almost 9,6 million rubles. But this is a full-fledged plane! Only it is quite slow - the speed is only up to 150 km/h. But it flies on AI-95 gasoline and consumes from 17 to 22 liters per “hundred”.
Work on the SP-30 began in the second half of the 80s. But the model began to be produced in 2003. At the end of the 80s, the collapse of the Soviet Union interfered, although developments already existed. Interestingly, in 2000 there was an attempt to build aircraft based on the Zenith STOL CH 701 from the USA. Buy kit kits from them, and assemble them in Russia. But the American model was not suitable for our conditions. We had to develop our own, which is what we did in the end. The company Spektr-Aero was involved in this. Actually, the name of the aircraft contains just one word from the brand. Now SP-30 is being assembled by the First Design Bureau, but the essence has not changed. And they will talk about the plane on the channel “Vanya at the Helm”.
