New MINI Aceman: everything we know about the compact EV crossover

MINI is entering the fight for the small electric SUV market with the launch of the Aceman on April 24th. A promising competitor to the Volvo EX30 will be demonstrated to the public at the upcoming auto show in Beijing. The electric car will go on sale on the same day.


With its size, the Aceman fills the gap that has formed between the MINI Cooper hatchback and the relatively large Countryman SUV. Their electric versions will also be at the show in Beijing. Thus, we will see the entire EV family of the British brand.


Among the potential competitors of the new MINI Aceman is not only the above-mentioned Volvo EX30. The new product can compete with Kia EV3, Jeep Avenger and Smart #1. Many assume that immediately after entering the markets, the car can compete with the Peugeot E-308 or Astra Electric.

It is known that the MINI Aceman is based on a similar electric platform as the smaller Cooper. The electric car has a battery with a capacity of 54,2 kWh. A full charge is enough to travel up to 402 km without recharging, and for Europe this is quite good.

The new product is made in a body with dimensions of 4075x1754x1495 mm. The dimensions of the car are similar to the Jeep Avenger, but at the same time it is lower in comparison with it. If we compare again with the Volvo EX30, the electric car from MINI is inferior to the “European” in length by 150 mm and in width by 100 mm.

In the cabin you can see the now traditional round display measuring 9,4 inches. The screen is responsible for navigation, infotainment system and control of other car options. A similar scheme is implemented in the Volvo EX30.

Aceman supports several modes, by changing which the driver will be able to edit both the appearance of the interface on the screen and the color and brightness of the atmospheric interior lighting.


The official price of the MINI Aceman has not yet been announced, although the car will go on sale in the coming days. We can assume that its price will be around 4 million rubles, because it is in this price category that the main competitors that we listed earlier are located.

According to open data, the MINI Aceman will be assembled at a plant in China along with another model, the Cooper. Starting in 2026, the company plans to move production home to the UK. After an investment of 70 billion rubles in the MINI plant, this is expected.
