New generation Citroen C3 Aircross presented

The French brand Citroen presented the C3 Aircross model for sale in EU countries. This is a new generation car. Compared to the previous generation, it has become larger in size. And so much so that the manufacturer promised three-row modifications.


However, you need to understand that such a fairly compact crossover will have a “gallery” that is far from complete. Only preschool children can comfortably accommodate there.

The manufacturer promised that the new crossover will be offered in both hybrid and electric versions. But there are no details on the volume and power of the engines yet.


The Citroen C3 Aircross presented for Europe is made according to the canons of the corporate style of the French brand. But first of all, the designers focused on the C3 and Aircross hatchback for India and Brazil.

Let us remember that the latter was introduced a year ago and has been sold in these countries for a long time. This Citroen C3 Aircross is slightly different in appearance. The manufacturer tried to simplify and reduce the cost of the model as much as possible. Therefore, there are no hybrids or electric cars in the lineup.

And in terms of the number of options, the Indian-Brazilian version is much inferior to its European “brother”. The engines there are traditional - internal combustion, without any hybrid technologies.

For India, the crossover is offered only with a 1,2-liter engine producing 110 hp. But in Brazil they already have liter engines. But they can work not only on gasoline, but also on ethanol (alcohol). The power of the power units is 125 and 130 “horses”, respectively.

The Citroen C3 Aircross for India and Brazil offers a choice of gearboxes. There is a manual transmission, automatic transmission and CVT.

The European crossover is based on the same platform – CMP, common to a number of models from Stellantis Corporation. But the “cart” was modified, because drivers from EU countries are more picky. They will not tolerate inconvenience even to reduce the cost of cars.

In terms of length, the Citroen C3 Aircross turned out to be slightly longer than its Indian-Brazilian “brother” - 4,39 versus 4,32 meters. Most likely, this was achieved through new bumpers. Although, this is not a fact, especially since the manufacturer keeps the main performance characteristics secret and does not want to show the entire interior of the crossover.


As for the engine range, there are no details on it yet. But, knowing the Stellantis concern’s love for unification, we can say with almost 100% certainty that it will be similar to the single-platform Opel Frontera.

Basic crossovers, accordingly, will receive 1,2-liter turbocharged engines with a power of 136 hp. They will work in tandem with a hybrid “makeweight” in the form of a starter-generator.

Electric Citroen C3 Aircross will most likely receive engines of 136 and 156 hp. The range on one charge is promised to be from 300 to 400 km.

All crossovers, regardless of modification, have only front-wheel drive. Prices for the model have not yet been disclosed.
