The Russian KAMAZ plant began producing modern, fifth-generation trucks in 2019. But the first models were presented a couple of years before. We had to modify production and install new equipment. Although, the factory workers took the simplest route. They agreed with Daimler AG, and they were already responsible for the supply of a number of components and assemblies. It became clear in 2022 that the wrong development path was initially chosen. Then economic sanctions were introduced against Russia, and KAMAZ suffered accordingly. It turned out that even our own engines were manufactured using a number of parts from EU countries.
But already in February 2023, KAMAZ K5 was revived. The manufacturer claimed that the trucks were 100% import-substituted. Unfortunately, they didn't do it quite right. Instead of Daimler AG, Chinese brands became partners. The KAMAZ press service did not talk about this directly, they only noted that colleagues from friendly countries helped to replace the K5 series with imports. You can figure out the rest yourself, although you can just ask the drivers working on the new KAMAZ trucks. And they know for sure that the wiring is Chinese, SORL pneumatics, and the rear axle is Hande. Yes, these brands are also from the Middle Kingdom. And the saddest thing is that Chinese trucks for the same price or even a little cheaper are equipped with components from the world's leading manufacturers. And the engines are more powerful...
