Even cheaper than Sandero Stepway: Citroen has released a new affordable SUV

Citroen has started selling the C3 crossover with internal combustion engines. In France, the new product is available at a price of 14990 euros or 1,49 million rubles at the current exchange rate. Although it is more expensive than an ordinary Sandero (it costs from 11990 euros or 1,19 million rubles), it is still cheaper than Stepway.


Citroen C3 received a ground clearance of 197 mm. This is one of the arguments in favor of comparing it with the Stepway modification, the cost of which starts at 15200 euros or 1,51 million rubles.


The basic equipment of the new SUV includes a cross body kit made of unpainted plastic. Black detailing covers the lower edges of both bumpers, rocker panels and fenders to provide protection against rocks.

There is no multimedia system as standard, but there is a head-up display. This is a kind of compensation from the engineers, since there is no traditional dashboard in the cabin.

At higher trim levels, the Citroen C3 gets a 10,25-inch touchscreen display with a horizontal orientation. The interior is designed in a contrasting two-tone scheme. The expensive package includes cruise control, wireless charging and driver assistance assistants.


The basic SUV received a 1,2-liter turbocharged engine producing 100 hp. With. It is paired with a 6-speed manual transmission. There is also a hybrid version, in which, in addition to a 100-horsepower gasoline engine, there is a 48-volt starter-generator and a robotic automatic transmission.

According to Citroen, the combination of engine and generator makes the powertrain on average 10% more fuel efficient compared to a pure petrol version of the compact crossover. During city trips, the internal combustion engine can not even be turned on, which is how such savings are ensured.


Contrary to the popular trend, the Citroen C3 turned out to be even cheaper than its ancestor. Due to this, the brand plans to successfully compete with the budget brand Dacia in the European market.

We remind you that the purely electric e-C3 SUV costs at least 23300 euros, or from 2,316 million rubles at the current exchange rate. And although in Europe this car belongs to the budget segment, in Russia it is often classified, like the Citroen brand itself, almost in the premium category of the car market.
