“Top 7” Soviet tracked tractors for almost 100 years
Many people have heard of such Soviet tracked tractors as, for example, DT-54 and DT-75. Their circulation amounts to millions. Moreover, the first of them launched the production of agricultural machinery in China. And already there, too, it was released in quantities of over 1 million copies. However, where did it all begin? In the USSR, this is the pre-war SHTZ-NATI, which came off the assembly lines of the Kharkov and Stalingrad factories.

And after the end of World War II, not only new caterpillar tractors appeared, but also factories. Moreover, in the 50s, non-standard equipment was produced that ran on... electricity. Even today, getting a tractor to work on electric motors is somehow not very daring.

The video, kindly provided to us by the AUTO HISTORY channel, talks about the seven best Soviet tracked tractors. And, of course, in the “hit parade” is the TDT-55 skidder: you can’t do logging without it! The main thing that distinguished all this equipment was its simple design and reliability. The same can be said about engines that did not need to be “import-substituted.” However, even the DT-75, which almost everyone who has visited Soviet collective and state farms knows about, takes only fourth place in the ranking. But who is included in the honorary “troika”? Watch the video!
