Production of the restyled Skoda Octavia has started

The Skoda brand has officially announced the start of mass production of the updated Octavia model. The cars are currently assembled at the plant in Mladá Boleslav, but there are plans to move them to another site. It is located in Kvasiny. The Skoda Octavia will be produced there from the second half of the year.


Let us remind you that “Octavia” is Skoda’s bestseller. The model is a symbol of the merger with Volkswagen. It was the German brand that managed to actually revive Skoda. The new owners modernized production and helped launch the production of a modern model range.

The Skoda Octavia debuted in 1996. It is still in production, having gone through several generations. The fourth generation model appeared in 2019. And finally the time has come for restyling.


It is worth noting that fans of the brand were hoping for a new generation. But alas, it won’t happen. Moreover, Skoda management has clearly stated that if the Octavia remains, it will still be an electric car.

There is no other option, because the Volkswagen Golf will begin to be assembled on a new electric platform. No one will develop a “trolley” specifically for the Octavia. She, as before, will share it with Golf.

Externally, the restyled Skoda Octavia is recognizable by its new bumpers, lighting equipment and radiator grille. At the request of customers, headlights can be replaced with matrix ones. But this is a paid option.

There are also a number of changes in the interior. Even in the basic configuration, the car will receive dual-zone climate control and a 10-inch instrument display. But the most important thing is the built-in ChatGPT chat bot that works in conjunction with the voice assistant. And yes - this is all included in the basic package.

As for engines, the three-cylinder power unit was abandoned. It did not stand the test of time, it turned out to be too “capricious” and had few resources. Now, instead of this engine, there is a four-cylinder 1.5 TSI with 115 hp. There is also a turbocharged version of this engine. Its power is 150 “horses”.

Both gasoline engines are paired with an electric booster. This is a 48-volt starter-generator, which allows you to save fuel during starts and idle times in traffic jams and at traffic lights. The power units are equipped with seven-speed DSG robotic gearboxes.


Diesel engines remained unchanged. They are represented by a 2.0 TDI engine with a power of 115 or 150 hp.

For lovers of speed and dynamics, there is a sports modification of the Skoda Octavia RS. Under the hood it has a 2,0-liter turbocharged engine with 265 hp.

Sales will start in the second quarter of 2024. Prices are not yet known.
