MAZ-502 is one of the rarest serial trucks in the USSR

Few people remember the early cars of the Minsk Automobile Plant. No wonder - they appeared in 1951 and were produced until 1965. We are talking about the MAZ-200 - our own first generation truck. By the way, it was developed at the Yaroslavl Automobile Plant, where it was produced for several years as the YaAZ-200. But the video on the Forge Test Drive channel is about another truck, much rarer. Although, you won’t find a MAZ-200 right now during the day. Alas, at one time they were mercilessly cut for scrap... MAZ-502 is an all-wheel drive “brother” of a much more common model with a rear drive axle.


It is difficult to say how many similar cars were produced. Usually the conversation is about 900 or 1 copies or so. Such trucks were primarily required by the military. In the end, they all went to them. But the car, built on a civilian model chassis, was not very suitable for off-road use. But it would “take root” on construction sites, especially in difficult conditions. There would be no price for them in Siberia. Although, the truck is for the mentally and physically strong. To control this “monster” you need stamina. But in the 000s, no one complained. It was not difficult to become a driver, fortunately, they trained for free. But there weren’t enough trucks for everyone.
