Polar Bird boats “Teal” series: dense PVC, good reviews

The Polar Bird company offers winter and summer tents, accessories, and camping furniture on the Russian market. Production facilities are located in Chelyabinsk. A separate direction of the brand is PVC inflatable boats.


Today we’ll talk about a series of rowing craft called “Teal”. We will also consider popular models, features of operation and storage.

The lineup

Polar Bird has several families of inflatable boats, created more by anglers for anglers (as stated on the official website). These are “Krechet”, “Chaika”, “Orlan”.

Standing apart for some is the T “Chirok” series of rowing boats, which are more suitable for active recreation on the water or recreational fishing. About 15 models are presented on official platforms in different configurations with lengths from 190 to 280 mm.

Let’s take a closer look at the Polar Bird 240T “Teal” inflatable boat model. Structurally, we have an O-shaped cylinder, separated by bulkheads with valves for dumping and pumping up the air mixture. The body of this model is made of elastomer with additional reinforcement and a double-sided sealed PVC coating.

The length of the 240T “Teal” is 2420 mm, the cockpit is 1700 mm. The width of the boat is 1220 mm, the cockpit is 500 mm. There are a couple of sealed compartments on board, and the maximum transported weight is up to 200 kg.


In addition to the boat, the set includes a hard seat (can), a foot pump, a pair of 1400 mm oars made of fiberglass, a packing bag, a repair kit and an instruction manual (passport). Additionally, you can buy a fiberglass insert to stand in the boat, and a hinged transom.

The space is designed for one person. If you want to relax in the company, it is better to choose an older model (and therefore longer) with a couple of cans.

What you need to know about everyday boat care

Its quality and service life largely depend on the manufacturer of the inflatable boat. But proper care is equally important to maximize the time of intended use.


Below are some tips for caring for your rowing boat:

✅ For transportation it is better to use the case that comes with the kit
✅ If you are going to transport cargo on a boat, watch out for sharp corners so as not to accidentally puncture the tank or bottom
✅ It’s better to secure things not with cables, but with belts along the cylinder
✅ It is better to carry the boat to the reservoir rather than dragging it. The “Teal” series weighs up to 5 kg

After sailing, thoroughly clean the boat of small debris or branches. Accumulating in the folds of the material, over time it acts on PVC like sandpaper

Rules for storing Polar Bird boats in winter

PVC is not afraid of negative temperatures, so Polar Bird inflatable boats can be left in an unheated room. At the same time, it is important to clean all surfaces with a soapy solution so that the odor accumulated over the season does not attract rodents. If you didn’t have time to do this before the first frost, limit yourself to dry cleaning.


If you decide to store the Polar Bird boat in an inflated state, then slightly reduce the pressure in the cylinder and secure it to a suspended structure.


If there is not enough free space, you can release all the air and pack the product in a special bag that comes with the kit. It would be best to roll the watercraft in a factory manner to avoid deformation of the material.

What's the prices

The younger model 190T “Teal” will cost just over 13 rubles. A medium-sized 000T with a glass composite can and sling costs 240 rubles. The largest boat in the line with two cans is sold from an official representative for 19 rubles.


Among the competitors of the domestic brand, one can highlight the company “Lotsman” with a line of rowing boats and the ability to install a motor. The price of the manufacturer “Rumb” is comparable.

Polar Bird T series rowing boats are suitable for everyday use during the season. If you take proper care of it, it won't break down. Perhaps in the future the manufacturer will offer additional options for the T line that will expand the owner’s capabilities.
