The next-generation budget Nissan Kicks crossover has been presented

Nissan has introduced the second generation Kicks model. The crossover has become larger, more luxurious and more powerful. Judging by the published technical characteristics, the second generation model has increased its off-road potential.


Let us remind you that the current first generation Nissan Kicks debuted in 2016. The model was originally designed for markets in developing countries. Its production was established in Brazil, Mexico, Thailand and China. Unexpectedly, the United States also became interested in the compact crossover. Based on sales results in 2023, this market became the largest for the model.

In 2020, the Nissan Kicks underwent a global restyling. This allowed to increase sales, but the model was already outdated. And now the second generation crossover has debuted. It was shown in the US, where sales in 2023 unexpectedly increased by 22%. In just 12 months, more than 66 thousand cars were sold there.


Externally, the crossover began to look more brutal. The designers abandoned smooth lines in the design of the front and rear parts of the model. Now they are frankly square. The large radiator grille especially stands out. The narrow headlights make it seem even larger.

The roofline has a clear curve towards the rear. Because of this, the crossover looks sporty. Alloy wheels are offered in radii R16 or R17, but for an additional fee you can also order R19 with a unique design.

The length of the second generation Nissan Kicks has increased to 4,36 meters. Let us remind you that the crossover of the first generation, even after restyling, had 4,29 m. The ground clearance also became more impressive. If earlier it did not exceed 179 mm, now it is 213.

The salon has also changed. A single digital panel rises slightly above the dashboard. Display sizes vary depending on the configuration. They can be from 7 to 12,3 inches.

The interior turned out to be quite simple, but the seats were upholstered in a combination of faux leather and velor. There are carbon fiber inserts. The list of equipment, even in the basic configuration, inspires respect. There is a rear view camera, auto braking and lane marking systems.


The first generation Nissan Kicks was sold in the USA with a naturally aspirated 1,6-liter engine producing 124 hp. With. Now under the hood of the car there will be a 2,0 liter engine. for 143 “horses”. But the gearbox remains the same - it is an Xtronic CVT.

All-wheel drive crossovers will also appear in the United States. Previously they were not offered on this market.

Sales of the second generation Nissan Kicks will start in the US and Canada in the summer of 2024. Prices are still unknown, but they are unlikely to be very different from those asked for first-generation cars. And they offer from 21 thousand dollars (1,95 million rubles).
