The Soviet Union tried to provide transport for all its citizens. It was possible to do this 100% only with two-wheeled equipment. There were not enough cars, apparently because they were periodically sent abroad in large quantities. But bicycles and motorcycles were always on sale. Things were a little worse with mopeds. They were produced in smaller quantities. But if you wanted to purchase such equipment, it also worked out. Although, she was not in demand among respectable Soviet citizens. Mainly among teenagers, pensioners and those who did not have a license. Yes, there were times when mopeds did not require documents other than those confirming their purchase. But teenagers, especially in cities, dreamed of “Riga” and “Carpathians”. This is no longer a bicycle, but a different level. Equipment with an engine, almost a motorcycle.
Finding a Karpaty moped is still easy today. It’s just that the condition of most of them is not only far from ideal; they end up in scrap metal. It is possible to restore mopeds, but it all depends on what goal the owner is pursuing. But the equipment will drive in most cases. You can even introduce a Chinese engine there with a gearbox to turn it into something like a four-stroke motorcycle. But returning the same “Karpaty” to factory condition is a difficult task. Fortunately, sometimes mopeds come across without mileage. This is exactly what will be tested on the AUTO PLUS channel.
