In order to test the hydraulic pump in a wind tunnel? preparatory work was carried out. The OKB designed the necessary equipment and created the required equipment. Everything necessary was installed in a special pipe segment. The performance of the turbopump installation was tested at different speeds and altitudes, including at a ceiling of 12 thousand m. For this, the wind tunnel circuit was evacuated. The technical “abilities” of HPIs to generate the maximum possible amount of energy under different conditions close to real ones were determined.

At the end of the tests, TsAGI engineers and the OKB employees themselves were convinced that the stated design characteristics of the installation corresponded to the results obtained. The experience gained during the experiment is expected to be used when creating HPIs of other modifications intended for aircraft produced in Russia.
