Mi-2 from the landfill: they made a “one and a half” and started the engine
How to understand this - not Mi-2 and not Mi-1, but “one and a half”? It’s very simple: enthusiasts from Torzhok decided to restore the “kopeck piece”, which should have already been in a landfill. But there was only one motor in good condition. So the experimenters in the video from the Helicopter Museum channel took a risk, deciding to make the Mi-1.5 with one engine. Before the flight there will be a serious inspection. It is necessary to find out what work has been done and in what condition the components and systems of the machine are.

So far everything is in a “bare” form: the casings on the power unit and gearbox are not put on, there are three instruments, the most necessary ones. These are indicators of engine speed, propeller speed and gas temperature. True, there are still pressure gauges (in a separate place). There is an exciting moment ahead - starting up the unit, checking the rotation of the screws. Everything else has already been done: work has been done to restore the fuselage, landing gear, and vehicle systems.

And so the daredevil, who dared to get into the helicopter, proceeds to start the engine by pressing the buttons. The unit whistled and made noise, and the main and tail rotors began to rotate slowly. But after a temporary slowdown (something the pilot didn’t like), the speed increases again, and the tests continue. The engine is tested in different modes: the helicopter even begins to sway a little. What next - one engine, and not two, as it should be? Watch the video!
