Mitsuoka M55 will still go on sale: the company has received more than 1300 applications
Following a press release at the end of February 2024, Mitsuoka officially announced plans to begin small-scale production of the M55 concept car. Over the course of several months, the manufacturer’s email received over 1300 requests from those wishing to acquire an unusual car.

Of course, everyone who wants such an exclusive will not get it, if only because Honda Civics and exclusively manual labor are used as the basis for its assembly. Probably, the total circulation will amount to dozens of copies, and their cost is difficult to even predict.

The Mitsuoka M55 is what you might mistake for another Dodge Challenger, but it's not. The car is based on the Honda Civic hatchback with a radical redesign of the body. This includes a front end that has been modified beyond recognition, an increased rear overhang, new lights and glass with a grille.

At first glance, the concept may seem like an absurd Chinese remake with a retro twist. Indeed, the longer you look at it, the more dubious details you notice - the same contrast of retro elements with completely modern ones. However, many people liked it.

The severity of the visual changes is striking, but the interior remains the same as the original car. The exception is seat upholstery. You won't be able to see high technology in the interior. Instead, there are an abundance of mechanical switches and a modest-sized display.

The technical part of the retro-styled Mitsuoka M55 concept car is kept secret. There is reason to believe that the standard Civic turbocharged 1,5-liter internal combustion engine with a capacity of 182 hp is taken as the base. With. It works in tandem with a 6-speed manual transmission.

Mitsuoka is a Japanese company that has been manufacturing custom cars since the late 80s. Despite the fact that this workshop received manufacturer status in 1994, the overall history of the brand has lasted for 55 years. For this occasion, the Mitsuoka M55 is released.

So far, this car has been built in a single copy. In the coming months, you can see the car in several showrooms owned by Mitsuoka. According to the official statement of brand representatives, manual assembly will begin in 2025. The exact date is unknown.
