Neta L: BYD Song Plus competitor will appear in China in April

The general director of the Chinese company Neta, Zhang Yong, officially announced that deliveries of the new crossover model L will begin in China in April 2024. The car will be available in both an electric vehicle (EV) and a hybrid version with an internal combustion engine (EREV).


Neta L is a compact crossover with body dimensions of 4770/1900/1660 mm and a wheelbase of 2810 mm. Compared to its rival BYD Song Plus, the car is 15 mm shorter and 8 mm less in height, with all other characteristics being equal.


In the all-electric version, the crossover is equipped with one 170 kW electric motor. The drive is manufactured by CRRC Powertrain.

The power source for the electric motor is a 69 kWh battery. Its production is carried out by SVOLT, an organization that belongs to the well-known Great Wall Motors.

On a full battery charge, the pure electric crossover travels 510 km in the CLTC cycle. This is only 10 km less compared to the autonomy demonstrated by BYD Song Plus.

For longer trips, the buyer can look for the EREV version of the Neta L crossover. In this version, the electric drive is complemented by a 1,5-liter gasoline engine from Dongfeng. It produces 67 kW of power and is used only as a generator.

The EREV package offers the buyer a choice of three battery options. Their capacities are 30,1 and 30,4 kWh for batteries from the mentioned SVOLT, and 40,27 kWh for a battery from CATL.


Neta L is a 5-seater crossover with a D-shaped steering wheel. Particular attention is paid to the comfort of rear passengers - the second row has folding tables and cup holders.

We remind you that Neta is a Chinese brand that was founded by Hozon Auto in 2018. At the beginning of spring 2024, the manufacturer’s lineup contains four cars: Aya, X, S and GT.

Until the Neta L appears on the market, the model with the S index remains the only car of the brand available not only in an electric version, but also in a hybrid version (EREV).

The new product is positioned as the main competitor to the popular BYD Song Plus in China. The expected cost is from 20800 to 34700 US dollars or from 1,88 to 3,51 million rubles at the current exchange rate. The official price has not yet been announced.
